Be a part of documenting the art and history of graffiti in this community-led publication.

Hi! We are Emma, Nasreen, and Arash :)

We live (and lived) on 38th and Chicago (AKA george floyd square, AKA Minneapolis autonomous zone) and have been witness to the pain and love from the death of george floyd and the movement that arose from it.

Our home has been a drop-in site during the movement for supply collection and distribution, providing folks a hot meal, a shower, a place to rest, and a place for building community. We are all very passionate artists and community members who are actively working on making change in our communities. When the idea for creating a publication to document the graffiti from the uprising entered our Dunia (world) it was a no-brainer—we needed to find time in our lives to make it happen.

The publication will be a collection of images of graffiti captured from all over Minneapolis and st. paul and will include a history of graffiti and other written pieces about graffiti. We would love for you to contribute to this project by submitting photos of graffiti, poetry, testimony, or other words/art you’d like to share about graffiti and its use in movements.

this project is being created for the community by the community.

For transparency’s sake, we are going to document all funds coming in and how it is being spent to fund the project.

The funds from the sale of the posters will be used to cover materials for the project, print the publications, and delivery fees, making the publication free for the community.

This information will be updated frequently.
